Ditto's design and typing could be a reference to Animon, an evolution for the canon Ditto that was in the Pokémon Gold and Silver demo, which was scrapped from the full versions of the games. Animon was also intended to be Steel type, as it was supposed to evolve from Ditto by using a Metal Coat.
